For Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft’s departure from the International Space Station and return to Earth, NASA will provide live coverage of the upcoming activities. White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico will serve as the destination for the uncrewed spacecraft as it departs the orbiting laboratory.
Nasa Sets Coverage:
If the weather cooperates, Starliner is expected to launch its return journey to Earth at approximately 6:04 p.m. EDT on Friday, September 6. The landing and conclusion of the flight test are scheduled for Saturday, September 7 at approximately 12:03 a.m. by Boeing and NASA.

NASA will hold a press conference prior to Starliner’s return on Wednesday, September 4 at 12 p.m. from the Johnson Space Center in Houston. A flight director and managers of the Commercial Crew and International Space Station Programs at NASA will take part.
To go to the pre-takeoff news gathering face to face, U.S. media should contact the NASA Johnson newsroom by 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, at [email protected] or 281-483-5111. Media members must get in touch with the NASA newsroom no later than two hours before the start of the phone call to join the pre-departure news conference.
NASA space travelers Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams sent off on board Boeing’s Starliner rocket on June 5 for its previously manned flight, showing up at the space station on June 6. NASA and Boeing discovered helium leaks and issues with the spacecraft’s reaction control thrusters as Starliner approached the orbiting laboratory. On August 24, NASA made the announcement that Starliner would leave the space station without a crew in order to ensure the astronauts’ safety. Wilmore and Williams will stay on board the station and get back in February 2025 on board the SpaceX Winged serpent space apparatus with two other team individuals appointed to NASA’s SpaceX Group 9 mission.

Steve Stich is the manager of the Commercial Crew Program at NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Dana Weigel is the manager of the International Space Station at NASA Johnson. John Shannon is the vice president of Boeing Exploration Systems. Mark Nappi is the vice president and program manager of the Boeing Commercial Crew Program.

The NASA Johnson newsroom must be contacted by 12 p.m. on Sept. 6 for U.S. media to attend the post-landing news conference in person.
